The Domain Expert Agent is a RAG-based assistant designed for deep, subject-matter answers. It classifies the user's intent and responds with detailed guidance drawn from specialized knowledge you provide.

It is available on Starter plans and suits vertical or product-expert use cases.

What it does

  • Classifies questions (for example product inquiry, pricing, maintenance, general)
  • Retrieves rich context from expert knowledge sources
  • Produces detailed answers with appropriate technical language
  • Can suggest alternatives when configured

When to use it

Use the Domain Expert Agent when customers or staff need authoritative answers in a specific field: product lines, technical specifications, design advice, or compliance topics. It works well when your knowledge base is structured for expert consultation rather than short FAQ replies.

Configuration

Configure from the agent instance in the dashboard:

  • Knowledge bases: index catalogs, spec sheets, training material, and expert articles.
  • Expert responder settings: tone, use of technical terms, and how many context documents to retrieve.
  • Intent classification: optional routing of question types to tailor responses.

Typical usage

Add to a squad for chat or widget deployment, or combine with other agents in a squad orchestrator so general support and expert answers coexist.
