What are Orchestrators?
Orchestrators define how agents in a squad are coordinated at runtime.
If a squad has an orchestrator configured, control goes to the orchestrator before any agent is executed. The orchestrator can evaluate the squad agents, apply an orchestration strategy, and return control with the final output.
Runtime Flow
- A squad is invoked (chat/widget/API or listener event).
- PrimePilot loads the squad's active orchestrator.
- The orchestrator decides execution strategy.
- Agents run according to that strategy.
- Final result is returned to the caller.
Managing Orchestrators
You manage orchestrators from the squad detail page:
- Open a squad.
- Go to the Orchestrator tab.
- Select orchestrator type and configuration.
- Save changes.
Each squad has one active orchestrator.
Orchestrators coordinate agents within one squad. To pass work to another squad, use Squad collaboration (inter-squad messages), not a multi-squad orchestrator.
